Like many Western European countries, Italy is a fairly expensive place to live. However, the following breakdown of expenses will explain better.
Apartment Rental:
- One rental room costs between $300-$500 per month
- One bedroom, sitting room and kitchen: $360-660 per month
- Two bedrooms, sitting room and kitchen: $800-$950 per month
- Four-five bedrooms, sitting room, a kitchen and a double set of toilets and bathrooms cost $1,000 – $1,500 per month.
Transportation:
- Within the city 1 hour bus tickets cost about $1.00
- Gas cost approximately $5.00 per gallon
Food and domestic expenses:
- For singles it would vary from $1,000 – $1,200 per month
- For small families it varies from $1,200 – $1,600 per month
- For medium to big families it varies from $1,600 – $2200 per month
