STINTers are covered for medical and dental expenses under Campus Crusade for Christ’s benefits plan. Specific information regarding your benefits will be sent to you separately.
It is important for you to know that your benefits do not begin until 4-6 weeks after Campus Crusade hires you. Hiring takes place after 100% of your support has been raised. In most cases this means that your benefits will not begin until 2-4 weeks after you leave the country. For example, if your briefing is held in mid-August, most likely your hire date would be August 1 and your benefits would begin on September 1.
In light of this, you are strongly encouraged to extend your current health insurance to cover you until your benefits with Campus Crusade begin. Medical expenses incurred after date of employment, but before coverage begins may be reimbursed through your staff memo account. See “Reimbursements”. Your coverage will continue through the remainder of the month you return to the U.S., plus one full month after the month you return home. That means that if you return on July 2 (for example), you would be covered through August 31. The only exception is if you were to return on the first day of any given month, in which case the coverage would only go through the end of that month.
